Statement of Work
Contractor: “Activator, ACM Street Team” Part-time/20 hours a week from November 1, 2021 to May 15, 2022*
(Potential for contract extension)
* The contract period may be amended

Deadline to apply- October 22nd

The Anacostia Community Museum was built on a foundation of community engagement with a tradition of telling stories that lift the voices of the lesser-heard residents of Washington D.C. We are now embarking on an endeavor to tell those stories in more innovative, creative, and experiential ways.

The museum is also adapting to the pandemic era by changing where we educate and engage our audiences. We know that people are growing weary of zoom and other online platforms, but the pandemic is not over. Audiences crave physical experiences too. Rather than limiting our interactions within the walls of the museum, we are taking our message to the streets of DC. We are going to meet people where they live, work, and play.

Street Teams have traditionally been created for the purposes of promotion and marketing of a brand. The purpose of ACM’s Street Team will be slightly different. Our 2021 goal is to educate through the creation of novel and innovative experiences mostly outside the museum. As health conditions become safer, activators will perform their duties both inside and outside the museum but will retain the connection to the streets.

“Activators” will help to conceptualize and coordinate educational experiences and will implement these ideas with the approval and supervision of the Associate Director of Education.

Activators will also plan and facilitate online programs when digital platforms are appropriate. When the museum is safe to open, activators will be scheduled as in-house museum educators, performers, facilitators of dialogue, and leaders of tours. They will also be enlisted to engage visitors during events and other public-facing programming.

ACM will provide professional development and training.
